Robin & Pat Hart both grew up with family dogs & cats so when they got married, it was natural that in addition to kids, family pets would always be a part of their lives. A kid came first, followed by a cat, then a year later an adorable black Labrador named “Bijoux” completed their home.
For the last 39 years Robin has been flying commercially and training airline pilots. His training skills come in handy when he educates people on relationships between dogs and their owners.
In 1989 Robin & Pat arrived in Dubai with 3 kids, 2 cats and a lovely white Labrador named “Hunter”. Pat volunteered with K9 Friends in Dubai and the house was often a loving home for abandoned pups & dogs. When she joined the corporate world life took a different road.
A couple of years after the death of their beloved Hunter (aged 15) and Pat resigning from the corporate world, a ray of sunshine called “Shamal” came into their lives. She is a beautiful Golden Retriever who brought much joy and love into their home. Six months later, a phone call through K9 Friends brought 8 year old Alice, ….abandoned, dirty, fat and desperate to please. After 3 months of love, good food and encouragement, she has blossomed into a real beauty.
It was these two family pets that made Robin & Pat eager to expand their knowledge about training and caring for dogs. After many months of extensive research, they decided that National K9 Learning Center in Columbus, Ohio, had an outstanding reputation and a phenomenal training program. This professional school is approved by The Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools and for the last 27 years has trained people from over 35 countries to become professional dog trainers.
Having graduated from their course, Robin and Pat are now Certified Professional Dog Trainers. They specialize in Behaviour Modification, Obedience Training & Puppy Preschool. They are also members of the International Association of Canine Professionals, as well as the National K9 Dog Trainers Association.Robin & Pat believe that the foundation of building a good relationship with your dog is through communication. Their training methods are based on Motivation, Discipline & Praise, and it is crucial to find the right balance that fits the individual dog.
More recently Robin & Pat have added a new addition to their pack. Another Golden Retriever named Kingston. At 8 weeks old he started his training and proved how important early socialization, rules and boundaries can ensure a well behaved puppy. With Alice’s quiet laid back nature, Shamal’s strong willed personality and Kingston’s happy go-lucky excitement, we are able to use their different energies to help train other dogs with “dog issues”.
They continue to expand their knowledge of dog training by attenting several conferences each year and learning from some amazing speakers. (e.g. Temple Grandin “Amimals Make Us Human”)
