Our small, weekly preschool sessions allow for your personal concerns and questions to be answered. Through our guidance and the participation of other puppy owners, you will learn a great deal about socialization, confidence building, basic problem solving, and educational topics.
At The Dog Scholar we teach new puppy owners how they can influence and shape the behavior of their growing puppy. Puppy training begins the moment you bring your new puppy home, so setting proper boundaries and limitations will assist your puppy with the transition into a domesticated lifestyle.
The period between eight and eighteen weeks is the most influential time in a puppy’s life. It is during this time that you have the greatest opportunity to set the right foundations for a happy, well adjusted and well behaved family pet.
OUR WEEKLY PROGRAM
Proper Socialization
You will learn how to begin the process that is critical to the positive social development of your puppy. We will show you how to socialize your puppy effectively around people of various ages, backgrounds & sizes.
Confidence Building
Our weekly confidence building exercise will help to establish the critical communication and trust that is necessary for a well -mannered family pet. You will be taught proper introduction techniques for items such as vacuum cleaners, strollers, noise making items and more.
Owner Educational Topics
We will discuss a variety of owner – education topics each week that will help you raise a happier and healthier dog. You will learn the basic grooming practices such as nail trimming, teeth brushing, ear cleaning, and more.
PUPPY AGE REQUIREMENTS
Puppies should begin preschool as close to eight weeks of age as possible, but no older than sixteen weeks. Please note that while we accept any breed or mixed breeds, all puppies must be healthy and have proof of at least having had their first required vaccination.

Great to hear from you. That is a lovely picture thanks! I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and am really looking forward to getting out and about with Sapphire. I can’t think of anything that you need to change or add to your classes, William, Sapphire and I had great fun and I feel we learnt a lot. I certainly felt very well supported by you and will be keen to return for some more learning when we have had a chance to get out and try some of the things you discussed in class.
