Training Programs

The Dog Scholar offers one on one training with you and your dog.  We believe that every dog is different and we base our training not only your requirements but the personality of the dog and its particular issues.  You might only have one specific problem that you want dealt with or you might have several, whatever it is, we will work along side you to find a solution.

We start off with a consultation to get as much information as possible, so we can better assess where the problems originated and how to successfully deal with them. Sometimes all it takes is a consultation to get you and your dog on the right track.  Other times it will need several sessions depending on what you would like to achieve.  Once we work with you, we offer a support system for the life of the dog.

We offer training in a home and city environment.  We want to see you with a confident, obedient and happy dog who is proud to walk alongside its owner.  You should feel confident that they know how to respect your home, your family and your guests.  You should not feel that you have to lock away your dog because he/she does not know how to behave!!!

We base our training on a balance of encouragement, praise and discipline.  Finding the right balance to suit the individual dog, is our priority. We help to make your dog a well behaved family member by teaching it not to jump on people or rush through the door, to chew only the things that belong to him/her and to walk nicely beside you.  We can also teach you how to train your dog to sit and stay when commanded, the down and heel commands, to come when called, to walk without a lead, etc.

The Dog Scholar is dedicated to educating owners, teaching them how to communicate with their dog, and to help develop a good relationship between them.  What we strive to do, is to leave you with an understanding of how best to continue working with your dog to improve communication, and to strengthen the bonds between you.
